Desulfurizer is an agent used to remove free sulfur or sulfur compounds from fuels, raw materials, or other materials. It is widely applied in various industrial processes, especially in pollutant control and treatment. Desulfurizers can remove sulfur oxides (such as SO2 and SO3) from exhaust gases. Common desulfurizers include various alkaline compounds that have surface activity, capable of catalyzing the oxidation of SO2, promoting the dissolution of CaCO3, accelerating the oxidation of CaSO3 to CaSO4, thereby enhancing the desulfurization effect.
Common Types and Their Characteristics
Iron Oxide Desulfurizer: This desulfurizer features high purification efficiency, high strength, and good water resistance. It is suitable for treating various sulfur-containing gases such as natural gas, water gas, coke oven gas, etc., and can effectively remove H2S under anaerobic or high CO2 conditions.
Calcium-Based Desulfurizer: Includes lime, slaked lime, carbide slag, etc., which are widely sourced and inexpensive. They perform stably at high temperatures and are commonly used in flue gas desulfurization and combustion process desulfurization.
Activated Carbon Desulfurizer: Utilizes its large specific surface area and abundant microporous structure to effectively adsorb sulfides in exhaust gas, suitable for processing crude oil and petrochemical products.
Magnesium-Based Desulfurizer: Such as MgO and Mg(OH)2, featuring high activity and adsorption capacity, safe, reliable, and non-corrosive.
Amine Desulfurizer: Used in the form of ammonia water or ammonia solution, highly active with low dosage, producing ammonium sulfate as a byproduct, suitable for electron beam irradiation and ammonia washing processes.
Application Fields
Petrochemical Industry: Used for treating industrial exhaust gas and petrochemical raw gas.
Steel Industry: Removes sulfides from exhaust gases during steel production.
Fertilizer Industry: Removes sulfides in the production of urea and synthetic ammonia.
Environmental Protection Field: Used in exhaust gas treatment in metallurgy, textiles, chemical fibers, light industry, electronics, and other sectors to reduce environmental pollution.
Common Specifications
Iron Oxide Desulfurizer: Solid particles of brown or reddish-brown color, shapes may include cylindrical and spherical forms. Particle size affects desulfurization efficiency and bed resistance, with common particle size ranges around φ(3 - 5)×(3 - 15)mm.
Calcium-Based Desulfurizer: Usually white or gray-white powder or granular form, commonly 3-7mm cylindrical or clover-shaped particles, also available in 6-9mm×(3-20)mm specifications.
Activated Carbon Desulfurizer: Black strip-shaped with dimensions of Φ(3-4)×(5-15)mm, specifications include 1.5mm, 2mm, 4mm, 6mm, appearance is cylindrical.
Magnesium-Based Desulfurizer: Specifications are diameter 5-25 millimeters, length 20-50 millimeters.
Amine Desulfurizer: Appearance is a colorless, odorless, non-corrosive, neutral pH transparent liquid.
Implementation Standard: YBT 4809-2020 "Calcium-Based Desulfurizer for Steelmaking Hot Metal Pretreatment"
