Inert corundum granules, also known as tabular corundum, are favored by many refractory companies for their excellent properties such as stable chemical performance, good thermal shock stability, abrasion resistance, erosion resistance, and good particle toughness. They are the preferred material for producing high-performance refractory products or high-grade unshaped refractory materials. In particular, inert corundum granules are indispensable important raw materials for the three major continuous casting components in the metallurgical industry, catalytic and cracking furnaces in the chemical industry, and ultra-high temperature kilns in the building materials and ceramics industry.
Thermal Shock Stability
Good thermal shock stability is the greatest advantage of inert corundum granules. Compared with fused products such as brown corundum and white corundum in the production process, inert corundum granules undergo rapid heating and cooling at 1920°C, causing rapid growth and bonding of alumina crystals with disordered cross-linking, forming tiny closed pores inside, which endows the material with excellent heat resistance.
Abrasion Resistance and Erosion Resistance
With a Mohs hardness of 9, comparable to diamond, it has extremely high toughness and is not easy to break, exhibiting excellent abrasion resistance and erosion resistance.
