Foam ceramic filter plates are a type of lightweight porous ceramic material. Due to their excellent thermal insulation properties and high-temperature stability, they are widely used, mainly in the purification process of aluminum and aluminum alloy production. Foam ceramic filter plates are a type of efficiency liquid metal filter, featuring a three-dimensional interconnected curved pore mesh skeleton structure and very high porosity, which provides advantages such as a large slag collection surface area, large internal filtration surface area, low flow resistance, and good filtration effect.
Material and Characteristics
The basic materials of foam ceramic filter plates include silicon carbide, zirconia, and alumina. These materials have excellent strength, high-temperature impact resistance, and chemical corrosion resistance. For example, silicon carbide can withstand temperatures up to about 1560°C, suitable for casting all copper alloys and cast iron; zirconia can withstand temperatures up to about 1760°C, with very high strength and excellent high-temperature impact resistance.
Application Fields
Foam ceramic filter plates are widely used in various metal casting processes, including copper alloys, cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and alloy steel. They effectively remove inclusions and non-metallic slag from molten metal, reduce gas and surface defects in castings, significantly lower the defect rate, and improve the surface quality and mechanical properties of castings.
